14. Adam Sandler - Rocket Raccoon

Believe it or not, but Marvel were indeed looking into the prospect of casting Adam Sandler as Rocket Raccoon, a news gambit that caused its fair share of fan outrage back in 2013.

It's not known why Sandler didn't nab the role in the end (though Marvel seeing the fanboy bile online may well have contributed), but Bradley Cooper absolutely made Rocket his own in the end, and it's hard to hear anyone else's voice in the role now.

Would It Have Worked?: Hard to say. Sandler has a history of playing characters with such grating voices that he'd need to be carefully directed towards something less annoying by director James Gunn. Not likely, but Sandler has turned in a scattering of good performances throughout his career, so who knows?
