15 Actors Who Trashed Their Own Movies
15. Sylvester Stallone - Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992)
The 90s were a crazy time in cinema. Charlie Sheen was loved without much irony, Winona Ryder still hadn’t shoplifted a day in her life, and Sylvester Stallone was running around with an armed Estelle Getty.
It’s the kind of sidekick film this period loved to produce and is why its fans love it in return, but even in the heyday of whacky team-ups, Sly couldn’t get into the spirit of the flick.
In 2010, 18 years after Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was released, Stallone admitted it was the worst of his acting catalogue, adding: “If you ever want someone to confess to murder, just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.”
Using a Stallone picture in the place of waterboarding is a sound idea, Sly, but they’d better off using The Expendables trilogy.
Stallone’s torment was made all the worst in 2017 when Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed a longstanding rumour that he had feigned interest in the film - having read the poor script - to generate interest.
The Austrian Oak dodged a bullet. Stallone did not.
