15 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Tarantino Movies

By Jack Pooley /

10. Michelle Pfeiffer - Mia Wallace (Pulp Fiction)

The Role: The iconic, Oscar-nominated part of Marsellus Wallace's (Ving Rhames) cocaine-addicted wife Mia, ultimately played by Uma Thurman in a part that launched her immediately into the A-list. A number of other actresses were interviewed for the role as Thurman originally turned it down, including Isabella Rossellini, Meg Ryan, Daryl Hannah, Joan Cusack and Michelle Pfeiffer, the latter of whom the director apparently preferred the most. What Happened?: In the end, QT managed to convince Thurman to take the part by reading the script down the phone to her, and it was a damn fine choice on her part. Sorry, Michelle. Would It Have Worked?: Definitely. Though the role might've been a little too similar to her part in Scarface, it's easy to see her bringing the wit and sex appeal to the part, and one can easily imagine she'd have received similar plaudits to Thurman. She certainly had the chops for it.
