Wes Craven's critically-reviled 1986 sci-fi horror film Deadly Friend is remembered for one reason and one reason only: it features the most inventive use of a basketball in cinema history.

After beautiful young Samantha (Kristy Swanson) is rendered braindead following an attack from her abusive father, she's resurrected thanks to a special microchip...which causes her to go on a murderous robotic rampage.

This culminates in the now-legendary scene where she breaks into the home of curmudgeonly old lady Elvira (Anne Ramsey) and throws a basketball at her head with incredible force, exploding it into a bloody mess.

As if the superb gore effects and general insanity of the scene weren't awesome enough, Elvira's headless corpse then "dances" around her living room for a good few moments before finally collapsing to the floor.
