14. The Wall
The Plot: Two American soldiers (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena) stationed in Iraq find themselves coming under fire from a concealed Iraqi sniper, with only a flimsy wall protecting them from him.
Why It's Awesome: This is exactly the sort of low-budget, confined experiment that more renowned filmmakers should challenge themselves with, because the fantastic Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) milks the tension of this simple concept for every drop it's worth.
John Cena and especially Aaron Taylor-Johnson give compelling performances as two men staring death in the face, and considering that the movie stays with them for its entire duration, they're forced to carry it from first minute to last.
Liman's direction elevates an occasionally uneven script, ensuring that The Wall is a short, snappy thriller that's well worth your time.
