RottenTomatoes Score: 14% The Plot: The adventures of the titular hero (Gabriel Macht) as he seeks to tackle crime in Central City, adapted from Will Eisner's famed comic strip. Why It Sucks: There are so many reasons: it doesn't stay particularly faithful to the source material, comic legend Frank Miller's script is ridiculously tone-deaf and frequently misogynist, it's weird for its own sake, and simply isn't very much fun at all. At least Johansson is only a supporting player here, taking the part of The Octopus' (Samuel L. Jackson) sexy sidekick Silken Floss. She doesn't embarrass herself anymore than the script allows her to (particularly during the infamous scene in which her and Jackson spout rhetoric in Nazi uniforms), though it remains one of her few "edgy" performances that just doesn't hit the mark. It's been forgotten easily enough, though, because the actress' last 14 movies have all scored positively on Rotten Tomatoes, and she hasn't had a Rotten-rated movie since 2009's middling ensemble romance He's Just Not That Into You (through no fault of her own).
