15. Kylo Ren - Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Lucasfilm

While The Last Jedi might have had its detractor (because God forbid anyone does something DIFFERENT, eh?), the Star Wars sequel trilogy has a lot of good things going for it and there can be few who would argue with the success of the main cast of new characters.

There will always be issue with the way Snoke was played, because a character existing solely for misdirection is never great, but his presence did at least mean Kylo Ren's development from second-string bad guy to the heart of the story for the final film was confirmed.

And make no mistake, Ren isn't just a passionate, wounded apprentice and nor is he a stand-in for Darth Vader. He is both and more with a complex backstory and enough questions around his allegiance and his heart to make him very compelling on top of looking great.
