The Scene: When Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) arrive at a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, they find out that Red Skull's right-hand man, Arnim Zola (Toby Jones), had his consciousness transferred into a supercomputer in the 1970s when he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. He provides a huge exposition dump about his efforts to take over S.H.I.E.L.D. from within, in an attempt to stall them while Hydra fires missiles at the facility. Why It's So WTF: Sure, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never been rooted much in reality, but given how The Winter Soldier was a relatively gritty and grounded film (at least by the MCU's standards), this scene clashes harshly and feels like it would better belong in something like Wally Pfister's Transcendence. It just about works because despite its political overtones, the movie still doesn't take itself all that seriously, and it's just part of the silly fun.
