The Hype: Fresh off his masterful comic drama Birdman, Alejandro González Iñárritu directs a western adapted from Michael Punke's 2003 novel starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who finds himself robbed and left for dead by his friends (Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson), and seeks revenge against them. Why It'll Probably Deliver: The western may be new territory for the director, but if he's proven anything over the years, it's that he can tackle a diverse array of genres with fierce, brilliant originality. Plus, with a cast this awesome, why won't it work? Why It Might Not: Well, it's certainly not likely to fail, but every director has their off-day, and perhaps this is it for Iñárritu.
