12. Dr Meirschultz - Maniac

One of the earliest movie scientists, Dr Meirschultz has a simple ambition: the successful re-animation of a corpse. Not because he wants fame, money and the respect of his peers, though. His motivation is that he’s bats**t crazy.

In order to convey this, the filmmakers delve deep into their bag of mad scientist clichés and pull out every one. Tearing your hair out? Check. Screaming and pounding your fists? Double check. Best of all, however, is the doc’s “mwa ha ha ha” laugh, which will cause the hairs on your neck to rise.

Alas, when Meirschultz finally reanimates a female corpse, it’s attacked and raped by another of the doc’s patients, who’s mistakenly been given an injection of “super adrenaline.”
