2. Best Makeup & Hairstyling: Darkest Hour

Can anyone really believe that the above picture is of Gary Oldman in full makeup to play Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour?

It is a mind-boggling transformation that proves the leaps and bounds that prosthetic effects technology has developed over the last few years, because there's just no way you could guess this was Oldman without being told beforehand.

While the noted chameleonic actor will probably be a heavy awards threat in the Best Actor race, it honestly feels like the Best Makeup & Hairstyling competition could be over before it even begins.

We'll need to see it in motion to confirm it really looks this amazing, but it's hard to imagine anything competing with work this sublime.
