Ben Wheatley's tremendous folk horror film starts out seemingly as a straightforward tale of hit-men carrying out assassinations before morphing into something far darker, more twisted and more special than anyone was expecting.

It's one of the most delightfully unhinged horror films of recent times and it is vital to go in knowing as little as possible. Kill List truly is one deliciously nasty surprise after another.

It doesn't just coast along on twists and shocks though. It's an all-around great horror movie backed by a terrific cast, Wheatley's excellent directing and a generally fascinating narrative make it one of the best horror films of the 2010s as well as one of the best British horror films of the 21st century.

Unfortunately, Kill List has never achieved the mainstream recognition it deserves and also has an undeservedly low IMDb score of just 6.4.

Kill List truly deserves to be more widely-known, since it is one of the most surprising movies in recent memory and even if you're not a horror fan, it's a twisty, rule-breaking trip that's well worth taking.
