12. Detective Sing Loses His Head (Saw)

In the original movie, a flashback reveals that detectives Sing and Tapp managed to track Jigsaw to his warehouse lair, but typically ended up outsmarted by his elaborate maze of traps.

Though Sing was able to temporarily take Jigsaw down with a shotgun blast, he ended up also triggering a booby trap which fired four shotguns directly into his head, killing him near-instantly.

What it lacks in inventiveness it more than compensates for with the sheer brutal dispatch of a likeable hero and James Wan's smartly restrained approach to gore, ultimately making the scene that much more disturbing.
