The Original: George A. Romero directs this terrific anthology of horror shorts written by Stephen King, including scenarios such as a man (played by King himself) being overcome by alien vegetation, a wealthy psychopath (Leslie Nielsen) who plots murderous revenge against his cheating wife and her lover (Ted Danson), a human-devouring beast that lives inside a crate, and a germophobic man struggling to deal with a cockroach infestation. Why It Needs A Remake: Horror anthologies are in short supply, especially ones that actually work: the first V/H/S/ was pretty good, and The ABCs of Death has carved out a nice niche for itself, but what else? To take the shell concept of Creepshow and update it with terrifying new skits for a whole new generation could potentially revive the franchise. How Likely Is It?: 5/10. It's certainly not impossible, though Creepshow might be deemed a little too eccentric and goofy these days to enjoy the considerable box office success it had over thirty years ago. Then again, a less-campy tone for a remake wouldn't exactly hurt, either: if it's just an excuse to tell a bunch of well thought-out horror shorts, then what's the harm? With all plans for Creepshow 4 seemingly on the quiet, this is the perfect time to just start again.
