4. Toy Story (1995)
CGI animated films may be ubiquitous today, but back in 1995, the idea of releasing a fully CG-animated feature in cinemas was pretty damn bold and risky.
Toy Story was the first movie of its kind and originally conceived in the early 90s, after which it went through an extensive production process, full of re-writes and, of course, the huge time swallowed up by actually creating the final renders.
Had Toy Story merely been a solidly above-average animated film, it still would've been an influential technological landmark, but that it continues to be regarded as one of Pixar's best films and all-time animated classic is just the unbelievable icing on the cake.
It's totally understandable that the movie had its industry doubters, but two decades on, it's clear to see that John Lasseter's vision completely changed the game for family entertainment.
