Previous Movie: This spin-off from last year's smash hit horror flick The Conjuring stars the titular creepy doll featured in the opening sequence of that movie, who terrorises a family prior to the events of The Conjuring. Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews for its derivative nature and lack of thrills, Annabelle racked up a ridiculous $252.6 million against a $6.5 million budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror movies of all time. The Sequel: Warner Bros' Dan Fellman has stated that a sequel is in some form of development, and may kick-start a franchise based on the character. It's still in the early stages, so certainly isn't concrete, but with such a huge box office, it's almost sure to happen eventually, sooner rather than later. Why It Should Never Happen: Because the first movie sucked, for one, and if Annabelle becomes a franchise, it's going to probably end up as one of the lamest horror series in recent memory. Warner Bros. should stick to making a series out of The Conjuring and just be happy that this spin-off made a ton of cash.
