The Lion King might be one of Disney's most beloved films of all time, but it wasn't universally adored - particularly within the scientific community dedicated to hyena studies. After the film's release, hyena biologists protested against the way the animals were portrayed, and one researcher went as far as suing Disney for defamation of character.
It wasn't the only film to upset animal lovers either. Finding Nemo got into hot waters (albeit indirectly), for harming clownfish populations as they exploded in popularity as pets in the wake of the film's release.
And as a slightly different animal-related issue, over 50 children were hospitalized with salmonella after The Princess and the Frog came out thanks to kissing frogs. This is why those ridiculous disclaimers on films have to exist.
