The Moment: When all of the Avengers are attempting to lift Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) hammer during an early party scene, it gets to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) and he says that as the new ruler of Asgard, " will be re-instituting prima nocta." Why It's Controversial: This one got pounced on very quickly, simply because prima nocta is an apparently ancient right for a lord to have sex with a bride on her wedding night. It proved all the more shocking because Joss Whedon has typically been such a feminist writer, and this just felt like an icky, crass attempt at a joke.
