15 Most Controversial Movie Moments Of 2015

9. The "Too Soon" Charlie Hebdo Joke - Ted 2

The Moment: When Ted (Seth MacFarlane) and John (Mark Wahlberg) troll a stand-up comedian by shouting inappropriate comments, he asks the audience for a location, to which Ted replies, "The offices of Charlie Hebdo!", in relation to the January 2015 attacks on the satirical newspaper's Paris offices, which left 12 people dead. Why It's Controversial: Because it's incredibly rare that even the most daring comedy film would want to reference a globally-decried tragedy so soon. Sure, MacFarlane has claimed that he's simply referencing the a**hole hecklers at comedy clubs who suggest the most offensively awful s*** to make jokes out of, but even so, it felt pretty close for the bone to many, and a strong case of "too soon".
