15 Most Heart-Wrenching Moments In MCU History

15. The End Of The Avengers - Captain America: Civil War

Marvel has had a villain problem for a long time, but luckily Ultron was so sucky no one could compete with him and Marvel villains had to get good.

And no one was better at being bad than Zemo. Not only the cutest villain in the MCU, at the time, Zemo also had the smartest plan - destroy the Avengers by taking advantage of the fact that they're testosterone driven, fight machines.

All he needed to do was go, "Hey, Helmet head, look at this video I've got here!"

Okay, it was slightly more dramatic than that. But when you get right down to it, the Avengers weren't ripped apart because Zemo tricked Iron Man into watching a snuff film, but because Steve Rogers lied.

If you look back at Winter Soldier, you see that Rogers learned Barnes killed Stark's parents back before S.H.I.E.L.D. even fell. Steve didn't tell Tony - not while they were ripping down the remnants of Hydra, not after Ultron... never.

If he had, then one of the saddest moments in Marvel Cinematic history wouldn't have happened.

"He's my friend, Tony." "So was I." The Shield his father built destroying his surrogate heart. This shattering of the Avengers was what led to Thanos winning, to five years passing, and Tony ultimately dying. All because of this one fight.
