2. Literally Everything About Ichi The Killer

One of the most infamous Japanese films of all time – impressive given director Takashi Miike's history of making ultraviolent, utterly depraved movies – is also, fun fact, a comic book adaptation. And by all intents and purposes Ichi The Killer is a faithful translation of the manga by Hideo Yamamoto, which means it's absolutely horrifying.

Amongst the many totally inappropriate scenes that mean the film is still banned outright in many countries due to its high impact violence and graphic depictions of cruelty are an unflinching, prolonged scene of a woman being beaten whilst tied to a chair, a man hung with spikes through stabbed through his back and somebody cutting off his own tongue.

But worst of all is the eponymous Ichi, a mild-mannered young man who becomes sexually aroused when he's angry, which he discovered when watching a woman being attacked whilst masturbating. He's then manipulated into becoming a Yakuza enforcer, using knives in his shoes and gloves to cut off people's faces and then gets off on it. Ewwwww.
