A historical fantasy series, it follows the title character as she embarks on many adventures that are, well, extraordinary. These include dealing with a pterodactyl in Paris. All this and she still manages to be a successful fiction writer.

A feature film lightly based on the series was directed by Luc Besson and released in 2010. With a cast that included Louis Bourgin and Mathieu Amalric, critical reception was generally highly positive and it was a modest box office hit.
