15 Movies To Watch Out For This Oscar Season

5. Big Eyes

The Buzz: A Tim Burton movie with no Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter? Big Eyes follows Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), the apparent artist of the famous paintings of big-eyed children that swept the U.S. in the 1950s. However, it turned out that his timid wife, Margaret (Amy Adams), was the real artist, leading to a bitter court battle between the two after she claimed authorship. Big Eyes is another movie avoiding festivals, so there won't be any major word on the movie for a while, though spies who have seen the film suggest it's very much Ed Wood-inspired, which can only be a good thing. Oscar Predictions: The movie could really go either way, though it's certainly possible that a Best Picture nomination could be on the cards, along with Best Director (Burton), and Best Original Screenplay, though the safest bets are Best Actress (Adams), Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. Crafts wins are by far the most likely Oscar glory in the movie's future, though if Adams can fend off the likes of Julianne Moore, she could finally win her first Oscar on her sixth nomination.
