15 Movies You Wrongly Assume Are Terrible

12. Cars

What Everyone Says About It: "The Cars franchise is the red-headed step-child of Pixar's canon of incredible animated films, existing solely so the studio can milk parents of billions of dollars in merchandise ranging from toy cars, to lunchboxes, bed-spreads and everything in-between. It's a license to print money and therefore lacks the charm of the studio's best efforts, namely the Toy Story franchise." Why It Isn't Terrible: Because while not one of Pixar's best films, Cars is still an entertaining animated film, even though the sophistication and multi-faceted appeal of Toy Story, Up and Inside Out is nowhere to be seen. It's a simple story with straight-forward gags, but the animation is terrific and the voice performances (especially the late Paul Newman as Doc Hudson) are stellar. Hell, the film has 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Pixar fans often forget this because Cars 2 sits at an underwhelming 39% and poisoned a lot of people against the franchise for good. Yes, it's an excuse to print merchandising cash, but that doesn't mean the original Cars isn't a fun animation, even if it's no classic.
