The Prediction: The following movies all raised plenty of red flags pre-release that they wouldn't be worth bothering with: The Good Dinosaur had noted production problems, The Visit looked like another M. Night Shyamalan bust, Run All Night was to be nothing more than another generic Liam Neeson thriller, Unfriended look like horror schlock garbage, and Magic Mike XXL was to be a painfully unnecessary sequel. What Actually Happened: Talk about your pleasant surprises: The Good Dinosaur was no Pixar classic but a solid entry all the same, The Visit was surprisingly good fun, Run All Night was Neeson's best thriller since Taken, Unfriended was an inventive and well-acted horror film, and though lighter than what came before, Magic Mike XXL had enough bromantic chemistry that we're eagerly anticipating a third one. Isn't it a thrill when your lowest possible expectations are totally upended?
