2. The Revenant May Not Be Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar-Winning Role
It's almost become a joke by this point that Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for four acting Oscars and hasn't won a single one, each year being pipped to the post by a more "deserving" candidate. As such, all eyes are on his latest effort, The Revenant, a western collaboration with Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman), which seems to have a lead role carved out for the actor's latest Oscar nod. The problem is that DiCaprio's fan-base is so passionate that they may over-inflate expectations regarding the movie, and even if it's a masterpiece, that doesn't mean that the actor's work is worthy of an Oscar nomination, let alone a win. Of course, it seems likely that Leo will end up nominated, but again, it just may not be his year, at which point his fans will declare that he was summarily robbed...despite probably not viewing most of the other four performances up for nomination. His time will come, but it might not be within the next 12 months.
