2. Slender Man

Slender Man is arguably one of the worst horror films of the century. A genuinely broken, unfinished horror film if there ever was one, Slender Man is so incoherent, so badly acted and so head-smackingly dull that it will genuinely leave you staring at the screen in open-mouthed disbelief.

Still, in the interest of following Eric Idle's advice to always look on the bright side of life, at least we got a fair amount of warning beforehand.

Slender Man was another film that seemed doomed long before it finally hit cinemas. With this one, it's quite hard to know exactly where to begin.

It was beset with controversy as, thanks to the Slender Man Stabbing, some felt that making a Slender Man film was offensive. Reports of studio interference, conflicts behind the scenes and drastic edits emerged around the time of release. The trailers didn't exactly make it look like much, and finally, it received a PG-13 rating before release which, with a few exceptions, is nearly always a bad sign when it comes to horror.

Therefore, when it did arrive and quickly became of 2018's worst-reviewed wide releases, it wasn't exactly a surprise.
