15. Gonk Droid Torture - Return Of The Jedi

Empire Strikes Back left audiences on one of the greatest cliffhangers of all time. The rebellion is on the run from the Empire, Luke has a robotic hand after it was cut off by his father, and Lando leaves with Chewie in the Falcon to track down Han. It leaves our heroes at their lowest point, and made fans eager to see what would happen next.

But despite Return of the Jedi delivering a satisfying end to the original trilogy, it is considered to be the weakest of the three films and has plenty of mistakes in it.

One such mistake can be spotted rather early in the film in Jabba’s Palace. As part of their plan to free Han, C-3PO and R2-D2 are given to Jabba by Luke as a token of good faith. Jabba sends the droids away to be processed and enter a room where we can see a Gonk droid having its feet burned by iron poles.

The droid screams in pain, but the poles do not touch his feet and the steam can clearly be seen coming out of holes in its feet.

It also raises the unsettling question as to how the droid can feel pain.
