The Bond series has for the most part steered clear of including any obviously obvious or ham-fisted cameo appearances from famous celebrities, but Die Another Day is where this slips completely, as Madonna (who also wrote the movie's wretched theme song) appears as Verity, a fencing instructor with whom Bond enjoys some brief, innuendo-strewn banter ("I have been known to keep my tip up") and swordplay. Unavoidably, Madge's brief scene is totally distracting and sags down a film already running in at a relatively lengthy 133 minutes. Cut this scene down (and the theme song, while they're at it), and Die Another Day is already a far more enjoyable movie (if still pretty bad, of course).
