What Could Have Been

For years the final book was going to be called The Hallows Of Hogwarts, which doesn't (even though it's a nice title).

The problem with that title - of course - was that the Hallows weren't all related to Hogwarts, even though Voldemort had expressly sought to tie at least SOME of them to the school, where he'd felt at home.

Rowling revealed the title - and said there were others in contention - in an interview with Melissa Anelli in 2008 and while there's no suggestion that she planned to have all of the Hallows linked to Hogwarts initially, the title would presumably have necessitated as much.
