The Pitch: An attempt to adapt the Taken formula for a woman, Kidnap sees a mother (Halle Berry) fighting to retrieve her kidnapped son before it's too late. Why It Could Score 0%: It's a generic-sounding project from a first-time writer, so it's easy to be cynical about this one attempting to cash-in on Taken's success, all while capitalising on the lack of female action heroes in Hollywood. Still, from the bland synopsis, it's hard to exactly expect a Furiosa-level feminist statement here, nor anything but a generically forgettable effort which probably belongs on the straight-to-VOD circuit like quite a few of Berry's films lately.
