Budget: $50 million (estimated)

Though 2011's Gnomeo and Juliet rustled up an impressive $194 million worldwide against a $36 million budget, this is likely to be yet another sequel that spent too long coming to the big screen, by which point audiences have generally moved on and the interest simply isn't there anymore.

Plus, while hiring Johnny Depp to join the cast as the titular detective might've sounded like a box office-boosting idea back in 2015 when it was first announced, his more recent personal troubles and generally declining popularity with audiences make his involvement less fruitful than Paramount probably expected.

In addition, Disney's hugely-anticipated A Wrinkle in Time opens two weeks earlier and will likely steal a ton of its thunder, while Steven Spielberg's similarly-awaited Ready Player One releases the very next week. It hasn't got much hope.
