8. "Marry Her" - Geostorm
Surely the most facepalm-inducing moment in the Gerard Butler-starring disaster flick sees Max (Jim Sturgess) and his fiancee Sarah (Abbie Cornish) "kidnap" the President of the United States (Andy García) in order to protect him from the turncoat Secretary of State (Ed Harris), who has been plotting to assassinate him.
As they pair speed away in a stolen cab, the President lambastes the two for committing treason, after which Max sarcastically replies and refers to Sarah as "honey", making it clear to the POTUS that they're a couple.
At that exact moment, a giant crane starts to topple directly into their path, but with some skillful driving, Sarah manages to prevent their car being crushed by the crane.
After a beat, the President turns to Max and tells him, "Marry her." It's a line so absurdly cringe-worthy that it'll either make you embrace the film for its stupidity or swear off cinema as an art form altogether. It's the epitome of cinematic cringe in 2017, a toe-curlingly rancid line, even if Garcia tries his best to make it work.
