While many won't view this as a particularly annoying piece of product placement, it ranks so highly just because it's so obnoxious. As Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) sits opposite the newly-outfitted, rebooted James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a train, she eyes his watch and asks, "Rolex?", to which he retorts, "Omega". Not only does it of course place the brand name in the forefront of our minds, the tacit rejection of Rolex just feels like putting-down a competing watchmaker for the sake of it, snobbish, if probably something we should expect given that the film's protagonist is an arrogant spy. One can't imagine how director Martin Campbell could read through the script and find that exchange a particularly rewarding one to lens, unless, of course, he's rocking an Omega himself. Doubt we're going to see Rolex on Bond any time soon, anyway.
