And now we switch gears to movies that were received more favourably by audiences, but largely slammed by critics. Zack Snyder's long-awaited superhero team-up movie was massively anticipated by, well, just about everyone, and hearts were firmly broken when reviews came flooding out deeming Batman v Superman mediocre at best.

Alongside its disappointing 4.9 average score, it garnered a mere 27% critical approval, which flies counter to its rather solid 6.6 audience score, formed from over 500,000 viewer votes.

In fairness, there was a good deal of fan backlash against BvS as well, but the sway of more undemanding casual viewers shouldn't be discounted. A lot of people just wanted to see Batman and Supes punch each other, and didn't care about the atrocious pacing or total lack of narrative logic.

BvS benefited from 20.9% of IMDB users giving it a 7/10 rating, and it's important to remember that a decent chunk of these voters may well have watched the Ultimate Edition Blu-ray, which is a fairly solid improvement over the theatrical cut. Critics, meanwhile, generally ripped the cinema version apart and moved on with their lives (which is totally understandable).
