If Ant-Man was a surprising success, it was nothing compared to James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy, which had far more for fans to be concerned about - not least the comparative obscurity of its characters.

But thanks to Gunn's commitment to genre, his eye for humour and how well he assembled his perfect cast, the results were an absolute triumph.

The Moment

Star-Lord's dancing introduction ranks high and so too does Groot's noble sacrifice, but neither of them are quite as cool as the moment when Yondu unveils the true power of his Yaka Arrow, killing a whole squad of Ronan's Sakaaran footsoldiers in one beautifully choreographed moment of violence.
