17. The Formula One Attack - Iron Man 2
The Film
Like Thor: The Dark World, the first Iron Man sequel was beset by production issues and studio meddling - at least according to star Mickey Rourke - that ultimately led to Jon Favreau leaving the MCU. It's a disappointing movie, to say the least, fudging most of its most interesting moments.
Robert Downey Jr is typically excellent and the focus on his self-destruction as his body is poisoned is great, but there's not much else in there that couldn't have been done a lot better.
The Moment
Like all of the best marvel villains, Rourke's Whiplash has personal investment in taking down Tony Stark and while he didn't entirely work as a character, seeing him seeking revenge by turning Stark's technology against him makes for quite the spectacle.
The fact that he does so during a formula one race that Stark is competing in and unveils his whip suit at the same time makes it all the more impactful. And it's definitely a stand-out in an otherwise deeply disappointing movie.
