At the tail-end of August, hackers began posting leaked nude images of a number of high-profile actresses and female celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kaley Cuoco, Kirsten Dunst and many, many more. Naturally, the Lawrence pictures in particular caused a storm online owing to her immense popularity, and the event soon enough earned the dubious nickname The Fappening. Leaks continued for several weeks, as it became apparent that the images had been obtained through a breach in Apple's iCloud service, leading to fervent debates about both web security and privacy online.
