18 Upcoming Villains Who Will Be More Interesting Than The Heroes

2. Franz Oberhauser - Spectre

The Hero: The spy we all know and love, James Bond. He’s become a bit more grizzled and is likely saddened by the loss of M, but he appears to still be his usual suave and effective self.

The Villain: Though the rumours peg him as anything from Bond’s foster brother to a false alias of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, officially the villain is Christoph Waltz’s Franz Oberhauser.

Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: While Daniel’s Craig’s Bond has undergone some interesting developments, after half a century, audiences have come to expect a certain characterization out of James Bond. That doesn’t necessarily make him boring, but it does make him familiar.

Oberhauser, on the other hand, is a wrench in that familiarity. It’s no secret that Waltz is a powerhouse, especially when playing charismatic villains. Beyond that, we briefly delved into Bond’s past in Skyfall, but Oberhauser has the potential to rip the doors off on that front.

And if he really is Blofeld? Ridiculous as it may be, it would be downright amazing to see Waltz hiding out in a volcano-style lair, literally trying to take over the world. Far more interesting than watching James Bond sip another martini.
