20 Amazing Facts About All About Eve
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy article!
The older films get, the trickier it becomes to stand the test of time. It's become a common problem for many movies of the classical Hollywood era in which their stories have simply become out-dated and irrelevant. This is not the case for All About Eve which has proven itself to be ageless and if anything, has only gotten better with time.
Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, it’s considered one of the best movies of all time thanks to its mature themes, brilliantly witty dialogue and top-notch performances from every single cast member. Bette Davis, in particular, shone in her role as the sharp viper Margo Channing and it ended up becoming one of her most career defining roles.
It’s also an interesting case because of the events that occurred off camera. With drama, feuds and secrets floating around behind the scenes, the cast and crew seemingly found their own life situations reflected in the movie. Nevertheless, they all had fond memories working on what would shape to be one of the most revolutionary pictures in the history of cinema.
20. Eddie Fisher Did Not Star In All About Eve
Technically, a man of the same name did star in All About Eve but it wasn’t the famous singer and actor Eddie Fisher that we're familiar with. For years, when people have made documentations on the film, it has caused a lot of confusion – many believing he had a small cameo appearance.
The interior and exterior shots of The Curran Theatre (San Francisco, California) were used as a Broadway setting for the movie. A man named Eddie Fisher was a local actor and happened to be the stage manager of the venue so they decided to use him as the stage manager of the film.
The name is just a coincidence.
