The Plot: Jerry Hickfang (Ryan Reynolds) is a pleasant young man who becomes something else when he stops taking his anti-psychotic medication and begins to hear his cat, Mr. Whiskers, and his dog, Bosco (both also voiced by Reynolds), talking to him. As Whiskers encourages Jerry to become a serial killer while Bosco acts as his good conscience, Jerry finds himself traveling down an increasingly dangerous path. Why It's Awesome: Ryan Reynolds hasn't exactly starred in many great films recently, but here's a fine effort to turn that around, and in fact, The Voices sets the stage for him to give one of his best performances to date. Despite the grim nature of the material, there's an inherent sweetness to the movie, and the likes of Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick and Jacki Weaver provide fine support in what is hopefully a sign of more daring work to come from the Hollywood A-lister.
