20 Best Ever Quentin Tarantino Characters

By Joe McFarlane /

13. Lieutenant Archie Hicox- Inglourious Basterds

The first of many characters from Tarantino€™s war epic, 2009€™s Inglourious Basterds, to appear on this list. Some people may be annoyed by this character, and in all fairness that€™s understandable, as he is basically the guy that fucks up and gets everyone but Bridget von Hammersmark killed. However, the character is played by one Michael Fassbender, who in recent years has become one of the best and most respected actors around, and on top of that he is one charming Basterd. It may be his old school British accent, or the fact he is willing to put his life on the line to serve his country, or that he is a man that can appreciate a good scotch, regardless, there is something very likeable and charming about Hicox. It also helps that he is the focal point in one of the stand out scenes in the film, and certainly one of the most tense and brilliantly written scenes in Tarantino€™s career. Though his mistake results in a massacre, at least the guy stands up to his mistake and embraces his inevitable death. Hicox€™s exit from the film is undeniably cool, as he goes out €˜speaking the King€™s€™ while shooting a Nazi in the balls. Damn fine stuff sir!
