Eli Roth's horror debut gleefully cribbed form his favourite gorefests - specifically Cannibal Holocaust and The Evil Dead - but it has a fair amount of new ideas up its sleeve as well. One appears on the film's DVD, as allowing the scene selection menu to cycle through a few times will reveal a story involving Deputy Winston, which advances as you navigate through the pages of scenes.
