11. The Endless

Another delirious and expectation-defying offering from indie horror filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Spring), The Endless stars the filmmakers as two brothers revisiting the alleged cult they left years prior after receiving a haunting invitation to return.

A subtle slow-burn that makes exceptional use of its low budget, Benson and Moorhead prove themselves perfectly capable performers in a character-driven, consistently unease genre effort.

It doesn't provide easy answers or necessarily any concrete ones at all, but the journey to the finish line is utterly beguiling and, despite some dodgy CGI in the final stretch, visually dazzling considering the budgetary constraints.

Hopefully these two just keep doing what they're doing, because they represent one of the most enticing indie genre filmmaking voices today.
