17. Oxygen

Alexandre Aja (Crawl) returns with this ludicrously entertaining one-woman show, in which Elizabeth (a brilliant Mélanie Laurent) awakens inside a cryogenic medical pod with no memory of how she got there, and must find a way out before she runs out of oxygen.

Making a movie with only one major on-screen character is extremely difficult, a fact made all the more challenging by the ultra-confined setting, requiring Aja to get creative with how he portrays Elizabeth's claustrophobic predicament.

It might try a little too hard to get one over on audiences later in the story, but if you're willing to surrender yourself to the barmy thrill-ride, there's a lot to enjoy here.
