20 Best Performances In MCU History (So Far)

4. Josh Brolin - Thanos

There was a lot riding on Josh Brolin to bring Thanos to life after years of build-up, and it's fair to say he lived up to expectations, with Thanos turning up in Infinity War to change the franchise forever and fulfill his twisted destiny.

Given ample opportunity to sell Thanos's deep-rooted desire for power, Brolin portrays Thanos as a tyrannical visionary who believes he's doing the right thing for the good of the universe, and is willing to do anything - even kill his favourite daughter - to see his quest through.

With a voice that's at once booming and cold as ice, Thanos is instantly chilling and relentless, and Brolin's ability to portray him as both a martyr who thinks he's on the right side of history and an all-round villain who knows how to wield his power is simply horrifying.

Making years of fan investment pay off wonderfully, Josh Brolin proved to be the best person to bring the Mad Titan to life, selling him for his almost human vulnerabilities and maniacal reasoning without flaw.
