3. The Battle Of Hogwarts - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)
After ten years and eight movies, the biggest franchise in movie history came to a suitably epic conclusion with the Battle of Hogwarts. After the relatively slow and uneventful Deathly Hallows Part 1, the final chapter upped the ante considerably and delivered what was essentially a war movie with wands instead of guns. Bringing back several supporting characters from previous movies as well as the huge recurring ensemble, the stakes in the Harry Potter universe had never been higher as Voldemort attempted to kill his bespectacled nemesis once and for all. Despite being the shortest movie in the entire franchise, Deathly Hallows Part 2 contains almost as much action as the rest of the movies combined, most of which is confined to the spectacular third-act showdown between the forces of good and evil. Much of the castle is reduced to smoking ruins, bodies litter the courtyard with spells and curses being cast with reckless abandon and of course, Julie Walters and Maggie Smith each get a chance to be a bad-ass. The CGI is flawless, the younger cast members have never been better and Ralph Fiennes gleefully chews on the scenery in a climactic showdown that served as both a spectacular action sequence and a fitting end to one of cinema's all-time great franchises.
