Quentin Tarantino's roaring rampage of revenge saw him try his hand at a highly-stylized, Eastern-influenced Western that the director managed to pull off with aplomb. Led by a career-best turn from Uma Thurman, Kill Bill is not only a highly entertaining genre flick but also boasts one of the most spectacular action set-pieces in recent memory as The Bride takes on the Crazy 88 armed with only a samurai sword and a nifty yellow jumpsuit. Comprising almost a third of the movie's entire running time, the showdown at the House of Blue Leaves sees Tarantino take inspiration from every genre from wuxia to the spaghetti western in crafting an incredibly violent yet expertly staged sequence that features inventive combat and no shortage of blood squibs. After cutting a swathe through the Crazy 88, The Bride dispatches of mace-wielding schoolgirl Gogo Yubari before scalping O-Ren Ishii in a snow-flecked Japanese garden, crossing another name off her list as she slices and dices her way towards Bill.
