Release Date: February 12, 2016. Who's Involved: VFX artist Tim Miller makes his directing debut, while scripting duties are being handled by writing team Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, G.I. Joe: Retaliation). Ryan Reynolds takes the lead role, while Gina Carano was just announced to play mutant Angel Dust, and T.J. Miller will also play a part, likely as comic relief. What's The Story?: A solo movie and origin story of sorts for Deadpool, which will tie into the X-Men universe, potentially allowing the character to join his mutant cohorts in the future. Will It Be Any Good?: The CGI test footage that Miller directed has given fans high hopes that Deadpool might finally fulfill his cinematic promise. Much of its success, however, will hinge upon whether Fox agrees to give it an R-rating, or tones it down to a tame PG-13, which would neuter a lot of the character's ribald personality, as well as the expected violence.
