3. Atonement

Atonement is a great example of an "Oscar-bait" movies which is actually very good, retaining the essence of the source novel and noted for the exceptional cinematography by Seamus McGarvey.

Like The Revenant, this tracking shot also features a man shooting a horse in the head, but otherwise this is more concerned with capturing the mood on the beach in the aftermath of battle rather than amidst the heat of combat. The staging is grandiose, the camera sweeps elegantly, and the cast and extras all hit their marks perfectly.
